Five Mile Creek Loop (Garigal NP)
A somewhat complicated loop through the northern part of Garigal National Park, incorporating formal trails and unofficial tracks to form loop walk. I’m back with friends Sam and Andy to explore a longer loop walk through the northern part of Garigal National Park. This time the starting point is on Forest Way, where we take an informal mountain biking track that descends from the road into the bush.
After about a kilometre there’s a sign stating we are on the Blackout mountain biking track, rated as Very Difficult and featuring many large drops as it descends towards Deep Creek. (Most of the Blackout track is not actually within Garigal National Park, but is Crown Land.)
The trail passes under a huge rock overhang fringed by ferns.
As the track continues to descend, you wouldn’t really think it was “created” as a mountain bike trail, other than the occasional signs where the track splits into an “A lin.... Continue Reading at Hiking The World
