Getaway :: Fordypningsrommet Fleinvær ‘The Arctic Hideaway’
The coast of Norway is dotted with ethereal clusters of islands, remnants of the last glaciation that blanket the mainland like a protective barrier from the icy Norwegian Sea. This windswept landscape of rolling hills and countless fjords is an explorers’ paradise of spectacular beauty and makes an especially stunning backdrop for a cluster of modern tiny dwellings known as Fordypningsrommet Fleinvær or The Arctic Hideaway.
Norwegian musician and composer Håvard Lund is the creator of this eco-friendly outpost that can accommodate up to 10 people (book your visit). Lund was motivated by the spectacular landscape and wanted to create a place where people could come to immerse themselves in its supreme beauty. He hired TYIN Architects and acclaimed architect Sami Rintala to design the unique group of buildings, all of which are encased in sustainable Kebony wood and elevated on steel support structures to reduce their impact on the landscape.
